Answer regarding the permissibly of sending one’s children to the secular schools.

Our last call it ‘Praise be to Allaah the Rabb of Aalameen’

Alhamdulillāhi Al Aliiyi al Muta’aal Alladhee Akmala al Islaam bikulli Kamaal, Wassalātu Wassalāmu Ala n Nabiyyi adh Dhahūk il Qattāl Alladhee Yaqtadeehi man yarjoo kheira Ma’aal



Ammā Ba’du,



Answer regarding the permissibly of sending one’s children to the secular schools.



First of All before answering about its permissibility or forbiddance, one must understand the importance of knowledge and its seeking.



And before going to the part of the seeking it, one must understand what can be called a Ilm Islamically from what are called funoon (talents).



Know may Allaah bless you, that Ilm has been referred to the knowledge of Qur’an and Sunnah in Islam.





Even if thou wert to bring to the people of the Book all the Signs (together), they would not follow Thy Qibla; nor art thou going to follow their Qibla; nor indeed will they follow each other's Qibla. If thou after the knowledge hath reached thee, Wert to follow their (vain) desires,-then wert thou Indeed (clearly) in the wrong.



And those to whom knowledge has come see that the (Revelation) sent down to thee from thy Lord - that is the Truth, and that it guides to the Path of the Exalted (in might), Worthy of all praise.



There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise.



If any one disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge Hath come to thee, say: "Come! let us gather together,- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: Then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!"



And among them are men who listen to thee, but in the end, when they go out from thee, they say to those who have received Knowledge, "What is it he said just then?" Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and who follow their own lusts.



And the verses are many to indicate this.



And anything which is against this type of knowledge has been mentioned as conjecture.



But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.



And linguistically the word 3lm is used for teaching or learning (yu3allim, yata3llam) even for funoons.



But as for the Ahadith which came to explain the great reward for the 3aalim was regarding the shar3ee knowledge rather than the funoon.



As for the seeker of knowledge of shara3 many bounties are mentioned:



“The fadhl of a 3aalim (scholar) over and 3abid (worshipper) is like the fadhl of the moon over all the stars”



“The best of you is who seeks the Qur’an and teaches it”



“whoever goes out on a path seeking in it knowledge, Allaah will make a path easy for him to paradise, and the angels will spread their wings with satisfaction due to what the seeker of the knowledge does”



“Seeking knowledge is a fareedha over all the Muslims”



“Whomsoever Allaah wishes well with, He gives him the understanding of the religion”



“….even the fishes in the seas ask for forgiveness for the seeker of knowledge…” in a long hadeeth.



So seeking knowledge divides in to categories:-



Things which must be known to all and none would be excused of it.

Things which if some learns, the waajib of seeking it, falls from the rest.



Then after this there are funoon which must be sought for the survival of Muslims and their domination over other religions.



And these funoon (talents) are divided in to two categories:-



Defensive talents sought for survival to ensure their own existence from the matters of nature.



Defensive talents sought for survival from other creatures.



Now the examples for the first can be given is like survival from hunger, for this talents to produce food are sought from farming and agriculture. And survival from sickness, for this, medical talents are sought. And survival from heat and cold for this the talents of housing and clothing are sought. And survival from chaos due to mismanagement the urban affairs of how roads and towns must be made are sought.



As examples for the second, matters of war are sought, and to ensure safety of battles talents of your enemies are sought, and to have the advantage geographical facts of the ground you fight are sought and all which comes in this line.



Then there are means to achieve these objectives like transportation and communication and all in that line.

And due to conditions the talents change from first to second and vice versa.



And all this should be in accordance to the sharee3ah.



So the sharee3ah becomes which puts all this in a path which does stop it from taking means to attain ends which becomes oppression to the community.



And all these talents and knowledge are sought not for itself but to achieve another goal and it is the goal of laa ilaaha Illa Allaah.








After this introduction we must then understand the systems adopted to achieve these talents and knowledge.



As we are specifically asking questions regarding the secular systems which are now adopted by the schools of our current time, we must understand the system a bit briefly.



These secular systems which are adopted nowadays in our schools to which many Muslims send there children has many problems in it.



It has many ma3aasi (disobedience to Allaah) in it in many forms.



The form of education itself:-



The subjects taught are mostly against the basic tenets of Islam.

A complete way of life which is against the ways of Islam is taught.

Many forbidden things of pre ignorance like nationality and its kinds are taught.

Many of the Islamic education have been changed to the ways which satisfies the secularists are taught there.

The Islamic knowledge is degraded and made a secondary matter.

They are blinded from the nice morals and ways of Muslims.

They are blinded of the most complete and just systems of Islam in each and every matter, making it appear as a self contradicting system.

They are blinded to the history of Islam while showing them the history of the kuffar as to bring fear in to the hearts.





Environment:



A Muslim doesn’t differ from a kafir in any way in that environment.

Free mixing is taught.

Adultery is recommended through forms of lessons and extra curricular activities.

A new animalistic culture is learnt from the environment.

Respect to flags and cultures alien to Islam are taught.

A way of thinking which is alien to the way of Islam is taught.

The total morals of Islam are destroyed in the names of morals and discipline.

Ways which makes Islam as an inferior barbaric system are taught.



And many other sicknesses and poisons are there which must be avoided.



These systems were outlined by the Kuffar who after seeing that they cannot win by means of guns, they started to conquer through means of culture. And this is the greatest tools utilized as an ideological warfare to defeat Muslims.



The current systems are made to brain wash the students and make them as secular as possible. And to make them useless creatures whose biggest concern is to seek a way to eat and fulfill their lusts. As to ensure that these people don’t become a threat to the oppressive ways they have adopted to loot the people.



So these systems give you a little benefit which is full of poisons which affects your clear way of thinking about the matters as a whole.



This poison corrupts your thinking and makes you think about Islam making this as your base of justifying. And due to this many are seen differing from the clear ways which the sahaaba thought about matters.



Now coming to a ruling regarding this matter:



After we have known why knowledge and talents are sought, and after knowing some realities in the secular systems in the current schools, one must be clear on the matter of its impermissibility. That it is haram to go to such places to seek knowledge and it is haram to send your children to go there.



It is haram for a person to be in a place where sins are done while without stopping it. And to forbid the munkar from the heart is to stay away from it. Not to be with them. And it is haram to send the amaanah which Allaah entrusted you with (your children) to a place where they will sin. For you will be asked about whom you were entrusted with and while they are under your power you must forbid them from every munkar and if they are on a munkar with your knowledge and content without coercion then you will be sinful.






Alternative



We must send our children to places which are free from the poisons of kufr and pre ignorance and sins. If those are not available in your place, you must educate them in your houses.



Most importantly Muslims did have a system to seek knowledge and talents which were much more fruitful than the useless kufr systems the sons of fornication has compelled in our lands to corrupt it. The testimony to what I say can be seen in the deep knowledge which was found in the Muslim generations which were before the 1800 and still the kuffar are basing what they say on the findings of these Muslims. So this system must be revived within us to attain the objectives in a more fruitful and constructive way.



But some how Muslims nowadays get so much attracted to the kufr systems which give more harm than benefit. And they have forgotten and abandoned the useful system which was adopted by our ancestors.



And the problem doesn’t stop here. Rather these harmful systems which the kuffaar presented are now even being adopted by the religious schools. And the results are those who graduate from these systems. And enough is as a proof to point out its flaw to see how these graduates destroy Islam, while thinking that the corruption they do is from Islam.



So we must free ourselves from these invisible chains which we adopt thinking as flowers, while leaving the nice systems of Islam. These chains which we put on our selves to seek an objective which differs from the real objective required from us, must be broken and thrown away. These chains which the current environments force us to wear must be crushed. So rather than we adjust ourselves to their systems they must adjust their systems to ours. For Islam doesn’t follow any other way but rather other ways becomes in accordance to Islam or it will come under the sword of Islam.



So beware of these schools and systems and don’t go near it. But adopt your own Islamic systems and follow it without caring what the world criticizes, for they are on batil and you are on truth. Then we can achieve the fruits similar to the fruits achieved by our salaf. And if we don’t change this and let the next generation to be corrupted as we were then we will have another set of a new generation like the ones we now see from the Ummah.



And from Allaah we seek help.
